ZEST Dancing For Wellbeing
Do you like to move in time to music? Do you enjoy a good laugh? Are you looking for a fun way to do some simple exercise while enjoying yourself at the same time?
If you answered YES! to these questions you would enjoy participating in ZEST: Dance for Wellbeing on Monday mornings, from 10.30am – 11.30am, downstairs in our Clubhouse.
ZEST is a movement class designed for adults who want to keep their body and brain active and healthy, regardless of their mobility, skill, experience or age. Classes start with sitting on a chair, with options to stand and travel. No partner is required, and no previous dance experience is necessary. The class is taught by Philip Piggin, a highly experienced and dedicated dance artist who will guide you through a carefully planned program of physical activities. Dance is a unique vehicle, naturally combining multiple approaches to movement and exercise for the brain and the body, building confidence and improved quality of life. And all of this with a fun group of people!
The class runs for 60 minutes and in that time, you will do some warm-up exercises and seated dances. You will then progress to dances where you will stand and move around your chairs before a final cool-down activity. The class is as strenuous as you want to make it, and if you have a health issue you are encouraged to just dance with the body that you bring to class. Seated options are always welcome!
Why don’t you come down to the Clubhouse and try out a session FOR FREE?
If you have enjoyed the taster and want to come back again, it will cost you $12/session.
We have lots of laughs and really enjoy ourselves. Classes are open to both our residents and members of our local community.
