Stitching & Crafts At The Henry

Published

Have you visited the clubhouse on a Tuesday afternoon?

Then you may have seen our wonderful craft group. Our crafty ladies gather in the Clubhouse with their knitting, crochet, embroidery, cross-stitch, colouring and more every Tuesday at 1.00 pm. It is lovely to see how much they enjoy each other’s company, care for each other whilst doing their creative work with a lot of laughter and plenty of fun to be had along the way.

Our lovely resident, Jenny Cockburn, a member of one of the local craft groups for over 15 years, initiated the stitching and craft group at The Henry. Jenny was a craft coordinator at the CWA Belconnen branch in 2016 and she thinks that The Henry craft group is a wonderful opportunity to get together for friendship, company and lots of laughs. It has been two years since the craft group started. Each week the ladies enjoy a variety of craft activities such as embroidery, knitting, cross-stitching, needle weaving, patchwork as well as colouring in. The ladies also exchange their crafty knowledge with each other, for instance, Carol Thompson’s lessons on knitting woollen scarves are very popular among the ladies. The craft group has enjoyed knitting squares for CWA which are made into knee rugs for the elderly as well as knitting beanies for babies and women who have cancer. It is lovely and amazing to see how these ladies are contributing to the well-being of the community.
