Wear It Purple Day

Here at The Henry, we support and acknowledge the LGBTQIA+ community.

On 17 August 2022, Meridian which is one of the leading community organisations in Canberra joined in hand with The Henry to host “Wear it Purple Day”. Wear it Purple Day is an annual awareness day supporting young LGBTQIA+ people and challenging societal attitudes to help shape a better world for us all to live in.

Our residents wore their favourite item of purple clothing and a purple-themed morning tea was served for all to enjoy. The wonderful volunteers from Meridian celebrated by hosting a few games of bingo with the residents, which was lots of fun! It was a great day for our community to connect, raise awareness and show support to Meridian for all the wonderful work they do.

As an organisation, we would like to acknowledge the importance of improving the health and well-being of the LGBTQIA+ people by creating a safe and inclusive community for all.
